The 3 Best Marketing Moments in The New Scott Pilgrim vs. The World Clip

What a seven days for fans of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. Of course last week the fabulous new trailer was released -- along with a new TV spot -- and both seemed to confirm one thing: Fans of the graphic novel series will be head over heels for Edgar Wright's film. Everyone else, well, that was a different story, but Wright and Universal are determined to change that. On the MTV Movie Awards pre-show, the director premiered an exclusive new clip from Scott Pilgrim and it looks perfectly accessible to geeks of all shapes and sizes. So, everyone! After the jump, the three key marketing moments in the clip.

· Chris Evans as evil ex-boyfriend -- and Hollywood action star -- Lucas Lee

The man who would be Captain America is featured heavily in this clip -- and he's hilarious. The meta, rat-tat-tat dialogue helps (Evans-to-Cera: "You really think you can stand a chance against an A-lister, bro?"), but it's the way Evans carries himself that seals the deal. It always seemed like Lucas Lee was a spoof on Jason Lee (note the skateboard), but Evans looks like he's channeling some mix of Tom Cruise and Christian Bale. Sold.

· The Kieran Culkin/Michael Cera Banter

Some of the best -- and most relatable -- parts of the Scott Pilgrim series are the interactions between dim-bulb Scott and his bitchy-smart roommate, Wallace. And, it appears that Wright has captured that perfectly. As Wallace, Kieran Culkin is certainly being positioned as a scene stealer -- witness his MTV Movie Awards appearance with Cera, Anna Kendrick and Aubrey Plaza -- and this clip confirms that hype. Also, kudos to Cera for appearing to nail the bravery and stupidity of Scott.

· The fighting looks legitimate

You wouldn't believe Michael Cera as an action star, but there he is, defending himself against a bunch of burly stuntmen. Wright's taken the '60s Batman aesthetic and updated it with a Matrix-y vibe. The more Universal shows the fight scenes, the more mainstream audiences are going to be interested in paying money to see this.

So far, so good, everyone. Just don't burn out before August.
