Winter's Bone Attempts Unlikely 'Sex Sells' Gambit
"You Have Now Heard of Jennifer Lawrence" announced the headline in Esquire. My first thoughts were, "Oh, I've already heard of Jennifer Lawrence. She's the Verge alum who delivered a stunning turn in the Sundance drama Winter's Bone, where she played Ree, a flannel-clad Ozark girl left to fend for her siblings and gut squirrels on camera. How nice of Esquire to give this promising young actress and challenging indie film some attention!" And then, I saw the pictures.
Let's just say, I didn't realize that the incredibly austere Winter's Bone had any sex to sell. That'll learn me! Perhaps we've come up with a way to save the struggling indie drama niche; now, if John Cusack would just be a team player and slather himself in baby oil, maybe we could finally get Shanghai off the Weinsteins' shelf.

Wow. I may be on the verge of a visit to the dry-cleaners.
well, I guess this is pretty smart on her part, hopefully it gets the movie more attention! It looks like a great movie so I can't wait to see it!
And yet no one has yet made a joke about the film being named "Winter's Bone."
Well, it definitely has given me a Summer Bone.
Not to be a stickler, but shouldn't there be a body of water somewhere?
So sad that it had to come to this, Jennifer
Wow, an actress doing a photo layout...never heard of this sort of thing before. Why is it that everyday is a completely new day for so many people?
She is a ridiculously talented actress and always plays chooses that completely downplay her looks. its nice to see how beautiful she really is. I predict a hands down Oscar Nomination for her for best actress.
