Sure, it might have been nice to see John Steinbeck's play/novel hybrid of the same name given a big-screen go. Nevertheless, a genre thriller directed by Carlos Brooks (who'd previous made the underrated psychological drama Quid Pro Quo) and starring Briana "Daughter of Greg" Evigan, Meat Loaf and an evil Bengal tiger banned from the circus will do in a pinch. Toss in an autistic boy literally boarded into a house with his sister during a hurricane, and... I don't even know. Just be encouraged that it's some kind of classic, as any heady blend of Jaws, Rainman, When the Levees Broke and The Jungle Book must surely be.
VERDICT: Did you see the part where the tiger punches though the drywall? "Sold!" is an understatement.
