ABC Clears Up Lost Finale's Closing Plane-Crash Images

Remember how at the end of the Lost series finale -- after Jack's eye closed for the last time and you cried and the "L O S T" logo popped up on screen -- there were those images of the Oceanic flight 815 wreckage on the beach? And you thought it meant something? Well, as it turns out, enough people agreed with you for an ABC spokesperson to come out and comment on the closing credits late yesterday. So, does it mean the 815ers were dead the entire time?

No, of course not. "The images shown during the end credits of the Lost finale, which included shots of Oceanic 815 on a deserted beach, were not part of the final story but were a visual aid to allow the viewer to decompress before heading into the news," said the network rep. Also, because David Chase already used a black screen. Right, guys?

Anyway, to recap: Like Christian told Jack in the church, everyone died. Some before Jack, some after. And they met up again on the way to heaven. Because, hey, why not? Of course how the network could think they could show something like that and not raise the ire of a fanbase conditioned to look for meaning in the most meaningless clues is a matter for another day, but for now, case closed.
