THR has details on NBC's new fall schedule, and from the looks of things, it seems like Mary Poppins is helping NBC entertainment chairman Jeff Gaspin program the network: There's a place for everything and everything in its place. "This new schedule brings NBC back to basics with its commitment to quality scripted programming, " said Gaspin, totally not all thinking about the Leno Debacle. Rather than be in the slow, trainwreck business, NBC is putting itself in the packaged, theme-night business, and they've moved around a couple of your favorite shows in the process.
Are you after fast-paced action-adventure? Then settle down with the Peacock on Monday nights. Wanting a fix of gritty crime dramas? Wednesday's your night. And Thursday night still is home to NBC's formidable block of comedies, including 30 Rock (now moved to 8:30) and The Office.
The slowly rising Parks and Recreation, however, has been bumped to a midseason replacement to make room for Outsourced, a single-camera workplace comedy set in India. Parks will warm the bench with other mid-season replacements The Cape, Friends With Benefits, Perfect Couples, Harry's Law and The Paul Reiser Show, thus filling that Paul Reiser-shaped hole in all of our lives.
