The 9 Best Saturday Night Live Sketches This Season

Like all things in life, Saturday Night Live sketches are subjective. Even so, most viewers would agree that the show's 35th season has gone from eh (Taylor Swift and January Jones, anyone?) to actually good, thanks to some of the strongest comediennes in the business -- a shame, really, since the season ends tomorrow. Still, before Alec Baldwin closes down Studio 8H, let's remember the highlights that Lorne Michaels gave us this year.

9. "Mike's Marbleopolis" (Host: Ryan Reynolds)

Special guest star Scarlett Johansson added a much-needed burst of energy to her husband's episode in this commercial for "mah-ble cah-lumns."

8. "Ruff, Rugged & Roker" (Host: Tina Fey)

Tina Fey channeled Dina Lohan in this sketch devoted to the "real" Al Roker.

7. "Russian Brides" (Host: Megan Fox)

Though Transformers star Megan Fox did not blown anyone away with her sketch comedy skills, at least she was able to portray a convincing Russian bride next to Fred Armisen's Svetlana, who looked like she had been "pulled out of a drain."

6. "Lawrence Welk Show" (Host: James Franco)

His voice may have been a little hoarse, but the host (who went on to make a documentary about being backstage at Studio 8H) added some Latin flair to one of the season's best returning sketches.

5. "Stefon" (Host: Gabourey Sidibe)

Bill Hader's gay tour guide Stefon was a welcome addition to this season's Weekend Update desk, and so funny it cracked Hader himself up midway through.

4. "The Curse" (Host: Jon Hamm)

In one of the most original Digital Shorts this season, Jon Hamm played a sexy saxophone player named Sergio.

3. "Sarah Palin Network" (Host: Tina Fey)

Even jaded Saturday Night Live fans looked forward to the inevitable Sarah Palin skit during Tina Fey's episode this season.

2. "Scared Straight" (Host: Betty White)

Betty White's entire episode was pretty brilliant (as evidenced by the show's incredible ratings) but in this "Scared Straight," the Golden Girl is so convincing as a prison inmate mom that she caused Bill Hader to break character.

1. "Pageant Talk" (Host: Zach Galifianakis)

As expected, Hangover star Zach Galifianakis delivered one of the best Saturday Night Live episodes of the season, which included this deep-fried talk show sketch.
