Here's something you don't see every day: A season finale that wasn't actually a season finale. But with the way Community has treated television conventions during its successful freshman year run, why should you have expected anything less? So everybody's favorite Spanish 101 study group took their final exams and passed -- though if you DVR'd the episode there's a good chance you might have missed that part -- and it's now time to look forward to Anthropology. But what about next week's actual season finale? Don't worry about that now, they've got Good Will Hunting to spoof!
While not as pop culture-heavy as last week's "Modern Warfare" -- though kudos for Jeff telling Abed that staring directly into a weepy Annie's eyes was like looking at the Ark of the Covenant -- there was a completely random runner in "English as a Second Language" concerning Troy and his plumbing ability. As in, he's the Will Hunting of sink fixing.
Nothing Earth-shattering, but it bears mentioning that of everyone in the entire cast, no one has evolved as much during the course of the season as Donald Glover. He routinely makes Troy one of the funniest characters on the show by giving him an air of obtuse focus. Well played. This episode also found a way to make the overexposed Ken Jeong mostly tolerable... by tasering him.
