Hollywood Ink: Are You Ready For the Second Coming of John Schneider?

john_schneider_ink.jpg

· No, no, no -- not Rob Schneider. John Schneider! That flaxen-haired Dukes of Hazzard heartthrob who's been making a go of things on TV since the early '80s is attached to Doonby, a feature film that producers describe as "a cross between It's a Wonderful Life and Crazy Heart." Amazing! And Robert Davi co-stars as a small-town sheriff. I will be so pissed if this goes straight to DVD; who'll deliver this year's nine-minute backstage Oscar speech? Also: Slow news day! [THR]

Josh Groban breaks out as well, Lizzy Caplan pursues the man of her dreams, and more Hollywood Ink after the jump.

· Josh Groban (!) will join Marisa Tomei in the steadily growing ensemble of that untitled Steve Carell/Ryan Gosling marital-crisis comedy: Tomei as the first woman Carell dates using the advice passed along by ladies' man Gosling; Groban as the boyfriend of one of Carell's daughters, played by Emma Stone. [Variety]

· OK, so Lizzy Caplan will star in Queens of Country as a "beauty queen and line dancing champion who stumbles upon an iPod filled with her favorite country songstresses in a local truck stop bathroom -- and upends her world to track down the man of her dreams." Her male costars will include Ron Livingston, Joe Lo Truglio, Matt Walsh and Tool/Perfect Circle vocalist Maynard James Keenan. Can there be any doubt who she'll go for? [Variety]

· Robyn Lively and Tony Hale will star in the indie Sironia, whose title refers to the Texas town to which Hale's jaded L.A. songwriter retreats. Lively will play a local socialite. [THR]

· Congrats to Steven Zaillian, the screenwriter/director who just set up a two-year producing deal at DreamWorks. "Hungry for fresh material, studios say these deals give them direct access to original ideas," notes the report. Right. As long as it's in 3-D. And franchiseable. [Variety]
