5 Fake Movies That Should Be Real

Danny Trejo fans, rejoice! All seventeen of you. The long-awaited Machete will finally reach theaters on September 3. For those of you who don't remember, Machete was Robert Rodriguez's fake trailer for Grindhouse that the director made into a real movie with real stars (Robert De Niro, Jessica Alba, Lindsay Lohan and Movieline favorite, Steven Segal, all appear alongside Trejo). Anyway, since Hollywood is clearly out of ideas -- cough, Mighty Mouse -- it seemed like a perfect time to go find some other fake trailers that could be turned into real movies. After the jump, the five that would have the best chance at box office success.

1. Telephone

Part Kill Bill, part '70s women's prison exploitation film, a dash of Thelma and Louise and Beyonce? Lady Gaga isn't just a musical genius, she could be the next Quentin Tarantino.

2. Thundercats: The Movie

Considering Prince of Persia not only exists, but will probably make a fortune this summer, a Thundercats movie doesn't seem so ridiculous anymore. Especially one co-starring Hugh Jackman and Brad Pitt. Though, obviously, Vin Diesel would have to get replaced by Sam Worthington. Also: 3D.

3. Re-Do

Sad reality: A movie starring Adam Sandler as a man who turned back into a baby would have grossed double what Funny People did.

4. Scorcher IV

If only because moviegoers deserve to know how those two infants fit into the plot.

5. Jefferson

Tracy Morgan-as-Tracy Jordan-as-Thomas Jefferson. In white face. Eat that King George.
