Hollywood Ink: David Chase Will Rock You

· Sopranos creator David Chase is back at work on his feature-film debut, an untitled and essentially undefined coming-of-age drama about a young rock group in the '60s. Boomer nostalgia! Can you dig it? You'd better: Paramount has dibs, though the studio will reportedly release Chase's film for some revived version of its Paramount Vantage label -- the Oscar-friendly boutique that courted such awards-season favor with the likes of Babel, Into the Wild and, with its now-defunct partner Miramax, There Will Be Blood and No Country for Old Men. It's an interesting move for a studio that went 0-fer on Sunday outside the Make-Up category; it'll probably be at least a couple years before we see if it pays off, so don't go radically tweaking your preliminary 2011 Oscar ballot just yet. Liv Tyler and Patrick Wilson step on to a Ledge, MGM inches closer to a deal, and more Hollywood Ink after the jump.

· Liv Tyler and Patrick Wilson are the latest to join Terrence Howard and Charlie Hunnam in The Ledge, in which Hunnam will star as a man threatening to jump off a ledge by noon while a police negotiator (Howard) attempts to talk him down. I love this quote from producer Michael Mailer: ""As more and more films succumb to the visual wizardry of 3D, The Ledge explores the fourth dimension: the interior life of tortured souls hovering over the precipice of emotional nullity." I guess this means Wilson's playing the ledge. [THR]

· MGM has invited six potential buyers to make updated bids on the reeling studio, which sounds like a blast: ""The deeper you dig, the more bad news you get," one potential suitor has said of MGM's current standing. "The numbers just aren't getting any better." [THR]

· Liam Hemsworth is in talks to follow The Last Song with Arabian Nights, a 3-D action-adventure in which he'd star as a young military officer who joins forces with Sinbad to save Queen Scheherazade. [THR]

· Anna Faris will star with Chris Evans in What's Your Number, about a woman who enlists her "womanizing next-door neighbor" on the rounds of revisiting her ex-boyfriends in the hopes of finding The One. Who will she ever end up with? Next... [Variety]
