Late Night Highlights: Remembering the Simpler Times With Willie Mays, Dick Cavett and El Kutch

After silently burying the Jay Leno Show, NBC pulled another Tonight Show legend on deck Wednesday to temporarily fill the gaping holes in its after hours line-up. Dick Cavett, who wrote for the show during both Jack Paar and Johnny Carson's terms, joined Jimmy Fallon last night over shag carpet to recall that famous Jayne Mansfield line he wrote and the time he literally bored a guest to death. While Oscar nominees and the super size cast of Valentine's Day have been hogging most of the talk show circuit, Claire Danes squirmed her way onto the Colbert Report to discuss her latest Emmy-bait, HBO's Temple Grandin.

Speaking of Oscar nominees, Christoph Waltz stopped by the Late Show with David Letterman last night to discuss how each of his wins this award season has benefited his daughter.

3. When G. Lo Met El Kutch

Valentine's Day star George Lopez did his fair share of plugging last night with fellow cast members Emma Roberts and his new BFF Ashton Kutcher. Over glasses of red wine, G. Lo and Ashton (a.k.a. El Kutch) recalled the simpler days of February's holiday.

Presumably Jennifer Garner and Jessica Biel were not available for the Daily Show last night, meaning that a culturally significant guest like Willie Mays was allowed to promote his project.
