Late Night Highlights: Mel Gibson's Inner Cowboy and Porn Plots In Politics

The president's State of the Union address coverage may have eaten up The Jay Leno Show last night, but there was plenty of other soothing late night viewing to be had. The most impressive was a parody trailer that Mel Gibson premiered on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, which impressively showcased binge eating, illiteracy and Snuggie rage. Is there something wrong with demanding that your personal assistant shoot a three-pointer in a Ku Klux Klan costume for an unfunny sketch? George Lopez did not seem to think so during last night's episode of Lopez Tonight.

    You guys do know that Craig Ferguson is airing new shows this week, that only Letterman is in re-runs?

    Yes -- I watched last night but was not blown away by Ferguson's interview with Eddie Izzard. Maybe because the 'Eddie & the Barbecue Guy' sketch really turned me off. What did you think?

    Honestly, it appears that they are trying out some new ideas for the cold open - since the puppet gimmick was run smack into the ground on the 1000th show - and they just aren't connecting. Seriously, how many fart joke sketches can you make in one week?
