TV Bites: MTV Engaged In a Bit of a Jersey Shore Negotiation Situation

· It may have seemed strange that the first season of MTV's breakout hit Jersey Shore ended last week without any announcement of a renewal. The reason, it turns out, was because the fist-pumping stars refused the network's initial offer of a $10,000 signing bonus on top of $5,000 per episode. MTV responded with an offer for $10,000 per episode with a guarantee for a 12-episode season. The cast allegedly has until the end of the day to respond, otherwise MTV will find replacement cast members. The network is not opposed to mixing new stars in with the old. In case you were wondering, The Situation and Pauly D. are the most hesitant to sign on for another year. [TMZ]

ABC taps into Privileged talent, CBS invests in Pittsburgh (again), and more TV Bites after the jump.

· ABC has found a lead for its upcoming untitled Shana Goldberg-Meehan multicam comedy in Privileged star Joanna Garcia. The actress, who has also appeared on Gossip Girl and How I Met Your Mother, will star as a young woman who gets pregnant and quickly marries her beau, while her sister enjoys a happy long-term, relationship. · Meanwhile, How I Met Your Mother creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas have inked a new deal with 20th Century Fox that will allow them to continue running their CBS hit in addition to developing other projects, including a multicam romantic comedy about a young couple and their friends in Pittsburgh. Of course, CBS last year canceled Three Rivers, a freshman medical drama set in Pittsburgh, after dismal ratings.[THR]

· NBC has delayed production on Rex Is Not Your Lawyer, one of this season's hottest pilots, starring Doctor Who's David Tennant and Jerry O'Connell. [EW]

· Jeremy Kyle, who hosts the U.K.'s most-watched talk show, will launch a U.S. version of his daytime series in 2011 through syndicator Debmar-Murray. [Reuters]

· George Clooney's Hope for Haiti Now telethon raised $57 million -- the most money ever donated by the public during a disaster relief telethon. Additional iTunes revenue (from the telethon's singles) have yet to be added in. [THR]

· Jimmy Kimmel will celebrate the seventh anniversary of his ABC late night show on Tuesday with special guest Harrison Ford. [AP]
