Late Night Highlights: Ranking the Leno Wreckage, From Richter's Plea to Kimmel's Epic Send-Up

From the moment Jay Leno welcomed Jimmy Kimmel onto his show last night via satellite, viewers knew it was going to be ugly. Partly because Movieline had tipped them off a few hours earlier, and partly because Kimmel's solemn expression hinted that he was not there to discuss his iPod playlist like the other 10@10 guests. What transpired was a damning evisceration of Leno on Leno's own show. Click through for the clip, along with the rest of last night's after hours wreckage (and shocking Jersey Shore revelations) ranked from least to most entertaining.

5. Fallon's Mustache Wars

No words for what is to follow. Other than: Is this what late night programming is driven to if a host refuses to harp on the newsworthy rumblings at his own network?

So instead of Jay admitting that he is an asshole he just revels in his dickwadness and tries to play the "It's not my fault game." NIce.

  • JM says:

Hope Conan sent Kimmel a nice fruit basket. That took some cojones.
That last question was a bit arrogant - "C) Be nice to me in case I move to your network". Why should he have to kiss your ass Jay? He should be kissin' Jimmy's.

  • NoWireHangers says:

It really speaks to Jay's character.

That Jimmy Kimmel interview is soooo juicy! I love when Jay starts to get pissed, Oh to see him squirm. It's really great at the end when he says "my friend, Jimmy Kimmel". Ho ho ho, good one Jay. You shall be a late night pariah, verily.
And no, you can't have it both ways Jay. If you're going to act like a ruthless dick, then own it. No more of this "blame the network" shit. You're no victim, and I pray that when you do resume hosting the Tonight Show, that you and NBC are eviscerated in the ratings game.

I read once that 1 in 200 men worldwide are related to Genghis Khan. I think we can all agree that one of these men is Jay Leno.

  • stretch65 says:

Hee hee - you said wad...

  • JM says:

Genghis would've been a great tv exec.

  • blah says:

Conan beat Leno's ratings last night. Jay's not even beating Conan with a much better time slot.
Why aren't Leno's fans showing up to support there man? NBC is going to have to sweat this out in the ratings next week.
