Good news, everyone: After a fairly smashing teaser, the full trailer for Hot Tub Time Machine has been released...and it still looks pretty damn funny. Let's admit that there are so many ways this could have gone wrong -- Adam Sandler could have used the hot tub to learn a cloying lesson, or Broken Lizard could have used the concept to make another movie. Instead, has director Steve Pink pulled off a minor miracle?
The cast looks to be on point: John Cusack as the straitlaced one, Craig Robinson as the wild man, Rob Corddry as the one who was on The Daily Show (de rigeur in the post-Hangover era), and Clark Duke as the one who was too young to remember the 80s era they've been transported to. Most heartening to me, though, is that the team seems to have opened things up beyond the bizarre, one-joke premise this could have been. Like, there are other punchlines! (Too bad about that suddenly dated Michael Jackson joke, though. Perhaps the time-traveling jacuzzi simply was trying to shield them from the forthcoming pain.)
