The Simpsons Leads WGA Nominations, Rosie O'Donnell and Eastbound Score Surprise Nods
The Simpsons dominated the field of nominees announced this afternoon for the 2010 Writers Guild Awards, pulling down five nominations (though all were in the animation category). The usual suspects -- including Mad Men, The Office, and 30 Rock -- plus newcomer Modern Family tied for second place with three nominations each. Meanwhile, Rosie O'Donnell earned surprise recognition for adapting a Lifetime telepic America (in which she also starred), along with HBO's loved-or-hated dark comedy series Eastbound & Down, which was nominated for Episodic Comedy. The complete list of nominations, as well as the notable absences, after the jump.
While the extended list included other WGA regulars like Breaking Bad, Friday Night Lights and The Colbert Report, it was missing regular nominees Late Show with David Letterman, Entourage and Weeds. The complete list of potential winners for the February 20, 2010 ceremony, below.

Comments
uh, The Simpsons is the worst written SHOW (let alone animated show) on television...lately, they've descended to the level of "Small Wonder".
We love the Simpsons and anticipate the release of each season. Wish they would release more than 1 or 2 seasons a year. You can't see these episodes too many times. Love the charactor packaging. We try to guess who will be featured on each year's release.

Awesome post peter, it's been a long-time since I've been on here. I see that nobody has lost their passion. Good to be back.
The Pentagon is making the wrong decision by destroying Anthony Shaffer's memoir! This will really reduce Americans' confidence in the Department of Defense and I am sure that the original copy of the book would get leaked, anyway.
