Joseph Gordon-Levitt's Chatty SNL Skills Counterbalance His Mime Expertise

Joseph Gordon-Levitt donned a sporty tie and sneakers on Saturday night, meaning he was exhilarated to host either Saturday Night Live or Double Dare. Luckily it turned out to be the former, though the audience was slimed with showman skills so hyperkinetic and gooey that Marc Summers might've Febrezed his screen. Best of all, Jo-GLev (there just isn't a more clever moniker, I tried) took SNL's opening monologue as an opportunity to offset his now-legendary mime abilities. Clips of both skill sets after the jump.

Here's Gordon-Levitt toasting his favorite dance sequence from Singin' in the Rain. Funny! And impressive! And talkative! And a little tiring, but that's fine.

And here's Gordon-Levitt with 500 Days of Summer co-star Zooey Deschanel at the Hamilton Behind the Camera Awards, toasting the film's screenwriters by silently re-imagining key romantic scenes.

I prefer the loquacious Levitt. His signature, breathless chutzpah is much more McFly than Marceau.
