Having swung and missed in two attempts to nab bail, detained director Roman Polanski may have had enough of the Swiss justice system and is considering a return to face a judge on Los Angeles. Or so hinted one of the filmmaker's attorneys, who noted the possibility during a radio interview today in France.
"If this process drags on, it is not completely impossible that Roman Polanski could choose to go finally to explain himself in the United States where the arguments in his favor exist," Georges Kiejman told an interviewer on Europe 1, wording his theory just vaguely enough to start an international rumor, but not quite firmly enough to confirm or deny any specific plans. Kiejman added a key qualifier that the 76-year-old Polanski, who was moved to a clinic this week while being treated for an undisclosed condition, is "not in perfect health." I was worried about this.
"The time for emotion has passed," Kiejman also said, "and everyone will understand that it's necessary to bring this affair to conclusion with just and balanced proportions." Amen. Gas up the plane.
