America Wants More Primetime Flashing

ABC is back in the comedy game, according to last night's premiere ratings. Modern Family led off the network's comedy block by crushing its 9 PM time slot, followed by strong numbers for Cougar Town and Eastwick. While the comedy numbers are a big win for the network, who has had a considerable amount of comedy misses the past few seasons, ABC still has awhile to go before matching NBC's Thursday night in the humor department.

Despite ABC's strong numbers, CBS's massive CSI: NY and Criminal Minds audiences gave The Eye the most total viewers last night. For those of you keeping score, The Jay Leno Show placed last in the 10 PM time slot.

Dancing With the Stars (8 PM) 14.9 million, 3.2 preliminary adults 18-49

Has NBC been vindicated yet? Leno is putting up numbers that are half that of CBS (at a fifth of the cost probably) and barely trailing ABC! This was NBC's argument all along, right? They don't have to win the timeslots, because they'll be too busy losing with style.
I guess it is still pretty early in the game though.
