Universal hasn't had the best year, but at least it's got that big Weitz brother vampire movie coming out this fall! No, not New Moon -- that's Chris Weitz, and Summit has that. We're talking about his older brother Paul, who helmed The Vampire's Assistant for Uni. Who needs Taylor Lautner's abs when you've got Salma Hayek sporting facial fuzz, right?
Moviefone's got the trailer for Weitz's renamed adaptation of the Cirque du Freak book series. From what we can tell, it's about a boy who flees boring suburbia alongside his best friend (this week's Verge, Josh Hutcherson) and ends up at an exciting circus filled with characters like Hayek, John C. Reilly as the titular vampire, and Jane Krakowski as The Woman with the CG Arm.
It looks cute and stylishly made, if a little bit outside our demographic. At least expectations are low -- as long as Uni didn't spend G-Force money on this, they may be looking at a solid double.
VERDICT: Fun for Goth tweens everywhere!
