Discuss: Lindsay Lohan Passed on The Hangover

"When I was 23," Lindsay Lohan will eventually sing at the Vegas cabaret act that will mark the dusk of a long but sporadic career, "It wasn't a very good year / It wasn't a very good year for starlet girls / Who lived at the Palms / With all their spray-tan lawsuits / And missed hit comedies / When I was 23..."

She'll be referring, of course, to two stories that broke in the summer of '09: The first involves a lawsuit brought against her for having allegedly stolen an instant-tanning formula. (How she might have gone about doing that I have no idea. Maybe it was inside a fur coat left on some bed a party at the Nokia Malibu Party Hutch.) The second is the story of how she passed on The Hangover, and it's after the jump.

Us reports that Lohan was originally approached by Todd Phillips to play the role of Jade the Stripper with the Holocaust Ring -- which would eventually go to Heather Graham -- in the summer's breakout comedy mega-smash, The Hangover. They report that "their mutual agent campaigned on the actress' behalf...and when he finally agreed, Lindsay said she didn't like the script...[declaring] it 'had no potential.'"

A quick perusal of IMDb Pro shows while both are CAA-repped, Lohan's agent is Richard Lovett and Phillips' is Todd Feldman. Still, Phillips might have well found himself pressed against a power-breakfast babies-and-lox spread, ultimately caving to their tag-teamed hard sell of, "trust us, she's your girl, Todd. Did you see I Know Who Killed Me? She's a stripping black belt. She puts Diablo's Open V-Swing to shame!"

Alas, for whatever reason -- perhaps fears of strip-casting -- it wasn't meant to be. There's always the sequel, however, as The Hangover 2: Thai Sex Tour will almost certainly require a Bangkok-flesh-worker cast of thousands.
