Meet Gooby, Brought to You by the North American Bear-Boy Love Association

Videogum posted a trailer that's been making the rounds -- Sarah Silverman tweeted about it recently, and it really started to catch fire -- for a film called Gooby, but which has affectionately been dubbed Pedobear: The Movie by the YouTube commenting community.

The film follows a boy "with a very active imagination," who suddenly finds himself best friends with a large man in a cheap bear costume who insists on hanging out in his bedroom after lights out. Eugene Levy is involved, shamefully, as is JAG's David James Elliot. Are things really that rough out there? This movie makes Tommy and the Cool Mule look like Up by comparison.

If this is what qualifies as a "family film" I have one more reason to never have children.

Little Willy's sweater at :22 suggests that this just might be a remake of Harold & Maude. One assumes that they're not sharing a cigarette after the leaf "fight" due to concerns voiced by the American Lung Association.

So many questions. Why is Eugene Levy's hair styled like Marcel's from Top Chef ?? Is that Sheryl Crow singing?? And most importantly, where does one find that whimsical scarf that Gooby's wearing?

  • Furious D says:

Gooby, it's Chewbacca and a sex offender rolled up into one.

some material is really not suitable for children.

and robin williams comeback express just keeps chugging along

  • yarmulke says:

I think Levy's hair is a little closer to a Queen Amadala. Or Dracula of the Bram Stoker variety?

  • JudgeFudge says:

And I thought Eurgne Leavy's career had hit rock bottom with Bringing Down the House .

  • Inhaler says:

MJ was Gooby right? How are they going to finish this movie now? Who else could recapture that child-like/predator personality that MJ so elegantly brought to the table?

  • Moshi says:

Wow, I reviewed this movie last year and still have Hagrid Bear nightmares. The fact that a company chose to buy and market this film scares the crap out of me!
