Out of Here is Out of Here

It's only late June, but the summer has already had its first annoying, depraved hit series. As I'm A Celebrity... Let's Hope This Gets Me More Reality Work Because I Need The Money finishes tonight, we gawk back with fondness at all the joy host Damien Fahey and the crew brought us, and hope to wait a good, solid year for the next installment.

I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! [8 PM, NBC]

It's the season finale, and while we will find out who wins the prize and can claim bragging rights, the big winner seems to be Lou Diamond Phillips. He kept his dignity decently well and still looks great, so we're thinking Young Guns III might get that greenlight we've been hoping for so desperately. The critics can call it Old Guns.

Primetime: Questions for the President: Prescription for America [10 PM, ABC]

Charlie Gibson and Diane Sawyer moderate the discussion as audience members ask questions about health-care reform. There probably won't be too many crazy or unexpected questions, but someone should take the time to ask when all this will happen. If the answer isn't "Not in my first term" then the dude is lying.

The Philanthropist [10 PM, NBC]

Another new NBC summer series gives us the drama and glibness surrounding the travels of a "reckless billionaire" (James Purefoy) who runs a nonprofit and saves children across the world. Neve Campbell returns to television as a woman who gets off on good deeds, but harbors skepticism (we assume). Another reckless billionaire, Richard Branson, is on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon at 12:35 AM.

Final Draft [8 PM, TMC]

You wouldn't think a popular screenwriting software could spawn a film, but there's nothing like a strange, navel-gazing, writerly thriller to remind us that movies about screenwriters rarely get made. No one actually optioned software to make this, but James Van Der Beek gets a lot of screen time as a writer who tries to deal with blockage by unleashing his innermost demons. It's called Red Bull, dude.

I'm more intrigued by that picture of Lou Diamond Phillips than all the Speidi drama I've ever read about.

I have not missed a single episode of I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here, and I am fucking sad that tonight's the last episode. For Four nights a week for the past month, I have been won over by the many charms that this show has to offer - LDP as the father figure to young Sanjaya's playful Jungle Boy Antics, the smolder of Patti Blagoevich and John Salley's unconsumated love, the puck-like putziness of Stephen Baldwin butting heads with the sour, ever constipated Janice Dickenson- and night after night, I feel like i have been enjoying this show in a complete vaccum.
John and Kate Plus What? The Real Housewives of Who Jersey? Seriously people, this is some top notch reality show crack, and I sadly don't think we'll get another season of this next summer.

i've seen final draft and i'd rather spend the next year w/speidi and my mother inside the Palin mansion than watch that god-AWFUL movie ever again.
