Family Guy Creator Joining ABC Series...As An Actor

Looks like someone's been emboldened by some face time in that Hulu ad! Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane, whose acting experience is mainly limited to cartoon voices and some random episodes of Gilmore Girls and Enterprise, will be joining an ABC series in the fall, as an actor. No, really! Which one?

The Lost-like dramatic epic FlashForward, says THR. After reading the script for its pilot, MacFarlane called creator David Goyer and begged for a part, walking away with the recurring role of an FBI agent. I'm sure he won't be distracting at all.

You know Seth developed a taste for stardom when he stopped eating McDonalds and grew a 4-pack. That Hulu add was just the tip of the iceberg.

  • stolidog says:

I would honestly, sincerely like to have mad sex with Seth. Appart from the fact that he's hot, he can also whisper a thousand different catch phrases in my ear in a thousand different voices.

ben foster was such a cute kid... he must be cursing the disney machine. even stacy ferguson got hooked up.

  • yarmulke says:

On a name dropping side note a friend of mine hung out with MacFarlane randomly at a karaoke joint. Seth apparently wouldn't stop talking in Family Guy voices which is great as a novelty...but after two drinks i'd want to punch him in the face. How will he slip a Stewie Persona into his role?

  • HwoodHills says:

So first Reality shows took over...
Then NBC dumped five hours of Prime time...
And now show creators are getting acting gigs by making calls?
    The acting profession is doomed.

Enh--that's what they said when rappers started getting jobs. We'll get used to it.

  • Rebecca says:

That's how the entertainment industry works. That's how most industries work. If you know someone that has the influence to get you a job or a promotion and they like you, then you usually get it. It's not really a big conspiracy, its just one person helping another. I got my job because my friend is really good friends with the director of my department- so it happens at all levels of the workforce. Not just the 'elite' using their status to get them things.
Oh- and Christ on a stick, Seth McFarlane is so ridiculously sexy. I can't explain to you why, because though he's successful- he seems like a regular nerdy guy, but I want him sooo bad. lol.

"And now show creators are getting acting gigs by making calls?"
No doubt. Remember that producer from Seinfeld that had two first names? He acted in some HBO show and it was ghastly.

why do most of these comments appear to be written by publicists?

  • Kyle says:

That 2 named gentleman you speak of is in a picture right next to your comment... creepy!

  • eli b. says:

Larry David? To start with, he is the co-creator, not just the producer. He invented Seinfeld. As for his HBO show, it is a hilarious, award winning show. It's still in production for gods sake.

  • Larry David says:

Yea his pictures in the ad right next to you. His name is Larry David, and Curb Your Enthusiasm has been a huge hit for HBO.

  • Why do I feel he'll be throwing pies in the background or something (I take hints from Zoidberg's uncle)

  • HamWarmer says:

Sarcasm is lost on this lot.

  • Jamber says:

and what karaoke joint may this be, if you don't mind me asking? 🙂

  • splam says:

Before this announcement, I was kinda meh about FF, meh+Seth = piqued interest. Good move ABC.

  • Tyrone says:

Good for him. He's a creative and talented guy, and I'm excited for the new series.

  • alezunde says:

Ugh MacFarlane is the worst. Family Guy started out somewhat clever but went rapidly downhill. All the jokes are old and used-up, the characters break character constantly, and the 'humor' is just a bunch of awful pop-culture references that won't even be remotely relevant five years from now. Back to Futurama, please.

  • james says:

Seeing him in a drama won't be the same as seeing him voicing in Family guy.

  • LLH says:

is it just me or does he remind you of a young peter brady?

  • dave says:

Lois griffin is the greatest porn star that never lived! When are you going to give us what we really want? Lushious lois getting nailed by everybody. God damn thats what I would pay for!
