Today brought good news to a handful of pilots picked up by NBC, but there were plenty more that weren't -- including some of the network's most high-profile, impeccably-pedigreed projects in development. Which shows will never be (barring an unforeseen reprieve), and which stars are suddenly available?
NBC's most talked-about pilot in contention was the David E. Kelley-created Legally Mad, which marked a Kristin Chenoweth-toplined return to Ally McBeal territory. Despite the big penalty payment attached to a refusal, the network passed after a so-so screening.
NBC stalwart Dick Wolf is still waiting for the verdict on his Law & Order mothership series, and the network made things no easier on him by nixing Lost & Found, his detective drama starring Battlestar Galactica's Katee Sackhoff.
As for its comedies, NBC decided against the Bradley Whitford buddy cop vehicle Off Duty, the Pride & Prejudice update State of Romance, and the Arrested Development-reminiscent Untitled Justin Adler Project, the latter of which makes executive producer Mitch Hurwitz 0 for 3 these days. Hey, more time to write the Arrested movie!
