Stoking disease fears is the job of the mainstream news media, but it doesn't mean that the artistic fringe can't also get in on the action. Strap on your face masks, pour yourself a big bowl of Purell, and sit back as Animal Planet exposes the porcine problem.
Pig Bomb [8 PM, Animal Planet]
There are so many possibilities given the title but this show is about the sky-rocketing wild-hog population and the myriad issues related to this swine-boom, including the oddity that these pigs are increasing in size and aggression. Look for lots of pig programming in the coming weeks, though we doubt AMC will be doing a Charlotte's Web & Babe double feature.
Wife Swap & Supernanny [8 PM & 9 PM, ABC]
Jon & Kate Plus 8 might be less produced than its ABC counterparts, but it has none of the drama that mismatched families and spoiled children provide. On the season finale of Wife Swap, an old-fashioned family that lives without the internet switches wives with a haunted-house-owning family. Supernanny Jo helps a church-loving family control their violent children.
Legally Blonde & Dirty Dancing [9 PM & 11 PM, ABC Family]
FAM, as our channel guide call it, is subconsciously doing a "Contemporary Beloved Films made into Disappointing Musicals" night. Reese Witherspoon was never more likable, and Swayze, well, was never more Swayze than in these two movies.
Jimmy Kimmel Live! [12:05 AM, ABC]
Matthew McConaughey, Kara DioGuardi, Jason Aldean. McConaughey is usually too laid back for most talk show hosts, but Kimmel is able to gear down and make the interview watchable. As the anecdotes of girlfriends past come fast and furious, look for Kimmel to self-deprecate about his own lack of an even tan and washboard abs.
