Racers, Fixers and Exploding Girls Win Big at Tribeca

The Tribeca Film Festival handed out its hardware Thursday night, awarding the year's top prizes to an Oscar-nominated doc maker, an Iranian auteur, and new It-girl Zoe Kazan among many others.

The film's top narrative honor went to Asghar Farhadi's deceit-riddled About Elly, while the Best Documentary award was dispatched to Racing Dreams -- director Marshall Curry's follow up to his superb, Academy-fave political saga Street Fight. Ian Olds earned recognition as the fest's Best New Filmmaker for Fixer, his grim look at kidnapped journalists in Afghanistan. All of them left the party with $25,000 cash prizes, which surely made for exciting subway traveling on the way home.

Zoe Kazan won Best Actress for her turn as a heartsick epileptic in The Exploding Girl, with Ciarán Hinds claiming Best Actor for the acclaimed fest darling The Eclipse. The full list of winners is below; congrats to all, and keep an eye on your wallets.
