McG Goes on Defensive Against Haters, Michael Bay's Manhood

Terminator: Salvation director McG has flourished for years now in the fauxteur firmament, but don't expect him to be happy about it. In a new interview with Details, the filmmaker who made unlikely Hollywood springboards out of helming Sugar Ray and Smash Mouth videos refuses to accept his place in the hackiverse -- and, moreover, is willing to expose his outermost self to break away from the pack for good.

After all, it's agonizing enough for McG that neither talent nor studios nor viewers take him seriously -- particularly after his songwriting and videos have moved millions of records, Charlie's Angels remains the all-time number-one opening for a first-time director, and he "helped re-imagine the brand of the Gap when they were in the shithouse." Why shouldn't he demand a little more respect -- particularly from Michael Bay, his ultimate nemesis in the battle for the soul of the summer blockbuster?

And if he won't earn it through Terminator, there's always... well, he can take it from here:

Bay and McG have been engaged in a "Whose robots are bigger, mine or yours?" contest for months. After McG shows me much of his near-finished film, he's feeling pretty good and decides to take the feud to another level. "Michael Bay has a big cock," he says. Huh? "But I'd like to believe mine is bigger." McG smiles. "If he's up for it, we can both reveal ourselves on the Spartacus steps at Universal and put the question to rest."

Sounds good, McG, but get in line. You should know as well as anybody that Uwe Boll has firstsies.
