If you're in New York and start coughing at your desk right... about... now, you should be sent home from work early enough to join me and Tony-winning actor-turned-filmmaker Dan Fogler this evening at the Apple Store SoHo. At 6 p.m., we will convene to discuss his directing debut Hysterical Psycho, which premieres tonight at the Tribeca Film Festival. And you will be impressed!

Fogler who originated the role of William Barfée in the Broadway musical The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee before moving on to films including Balls of Fury, Fanboys and the upcoming Taking Woodstock, explained some of his filmmaking motivations in a piece published Thursday at The Huffington Post. His Hitchcock influence in particular spurred Hysterical Psycho, a microbudget slasher comedy about a theater troupe picked off one-by-one during a doomed foray to the woods. Fogler and his Stage 13 colleagues clearly enjoyed the time they put in suffering for his art, about which I'll grill him mercilessly between film clips and questions of your own.

Find more details here about the Apple Store's ongoing Tribeca filmmaker chats. They will be worth your sick leave, I promise. See you at 6!

This is just my opinion, but I think Dan Fogler is to 'hilarious' as Rush Limbaugh is to 'sober'.
