'Opposite Marriage' Advocate Angie Harmon Defends Miss California

It's been a while since we checked in on viral video superstar Carrie Prejean, whose unkempt hair and dowdy dresses have transfixed a global...oh wait, that's the other one. Prejean is the controversial Miss California who took what should have been an amusing thing (standing up to Perez Hilton) and had to muddy it up with anti-gay whatnottery! Now, though, beloved Baywatch Nights alumna Angie Harmon has come to Prejean's rescue, and she is ready to throw a life preserver (at night) down that deep, deep hole that Prejean has dug:

"If someone is standing up for how they feel and talking about their beliefs, why are we punishing her for that?" Harmon, 36, told Usmagazine.com Tuesday at the opening of the Malibu Lumber Yard in Calif. "I just don't understand how we've gotten to a place in America where, if someone doesn't agree with everyone, then they are punished for it." [...]

Said Harmon, "I heard something in the car on the way over here, and it was like, 'She wasn't punished,' but she lost because of it. So she was punished."

"I find it incredibly disappointing," she went on. "I mean, that is what she thinks. That's what she believes. I'm not going to punish anyone for that. I don't know if she lost because of it, but if she did, I think that is very disappointing."

Wait, so did she lose because of it or not, Ange? This sort of waffling is what got ADA Abbie Carmichael written out of Law & Order. Still, though, we'll give Harmon this: it is so deeply unfair that the judges actually listened to Prejean's answer and graded it (even though that was the point of the question-and-answer competition). The least they could have done is overlook the content of her response to focus on her nearly incompetent word-making and invented slanguage.

Then she won't be angry about my:
    1. Believing she's older than 36.
    2. Wondering why she's doing Mall Openings now?
Don't fault me, please. It's just how I feel.

Shut up Angie Harmon. God, she is such a cunt.

  • Colander says:

If there was a leprechaun judge, would you tell him that god hated leprechauns? No, you would not, because you would lose.

  • icallthebigonebitey says:

You know what's especially annoying about her comments? She's totally being disingenuous. If you didn't already know she was a right-wing nut job, you'd think maybe she was just defending free speech. But as a social conservative (she's Catholic I believe) OF COURSE she's going to come to the defense of that hideous Barbie doll.

  • el smrtmnky says:

i was thinking the same thing and then saw your response. seriously, 36? she's a soft 43 at best.

  • b-side says:

So... pardon me if I'm simplifying this just a tad too much, but if a judge asked Miss California if blacks should sit in the back of the bus, and Miss California said yes, but did so in an eloquent way, that would be cool?

  • Kittenhead says:

Yes, it's absolutely unfair that some tooth-whitened ditz lost the chance to be Miss America. It hardly compares at all with my inability to marry the man I love.
Fuck you, Angie. Try sticking to topics you actually know something about, like middle-aged anorexia and unemployment.

  • FrancoisTrueFaux says:

I'm glad someone pointed out that the Malibu Lumber Yard is a shopping mall. For a second there, I thought she was switching teams.

  • Brilliant Orange says:

Perhaps if someone had clued her in as to not offending the "opposite" judges...

  • I need close to $2,000 of work done on my teeth, but I get extremely nervous when I know I have a dentist appointment comming up. When I am at the appointment, I get even more scared and i've had a panic attack. I've been reading people's experiences with sedation dentistry and it sounds like the way to go for me. I am also aware that it does cost more, but my question is how much more? As I stated before, I need around 2,000 dollars of work done, so approximately how much would that be if I took the sedation route?
