· Jamie Chung and Jena Malone join Emily Browning, Vanessa Hudgens and Abbie Cornish in Zack Snyder's Watchmen follow-up, Sucker Punch!. It's a Russ Meyer-esque, all-girl action-fantasy -- touted around the internets as "Alice in Wonderland with machine guns" -- about a girl who plots her escape from an insane asylum. [THR]

· The troubled House of Jigsaw, aka Lionsgate, is refinancing $66.6 million in debt in a private deal that will prevent billionaire shareholder Carl Icahn from taking control of the studio. Said Lionsgate vice chairman Michael Burns, "It's a private transaction with a certain well-funded someone who will remain nameless. But here's a hint: he's loving the hot weather, and can't wait for his cameo in Madea Goes to Hell!" [Variety]

· The frosty release period that runs from post-Christmas to early April thaws out: Fox is moving the Dwayne Johnson-Ashley Judd family comedy The Tooth Fairy from November to January, releasing the Steve Carell-Tina Fey couple's-night-in-hell movie Date Night in April, and has scheduled teen fantasy Percy Jackson for a February release. · Bowlcut-headed comic heartthrob Demetri Martin will follow up Ang Lee's Taking Woodstock with a starring role opposite Brad Pitt in Steven Soderbergh's Moneyball. The film is based on the book about Oakland A's general manager Billy Beane's efforts to outwit the Major League's expensive scouting system. Martin will play Paul De Podesta, a Harvard grad who figures out a formula to find the best players at the cheapest prices -- the kind of consultant the studios could no doubt benefit from themselves. · SAG will lay off 35 of its 440 staff members, according to a memo circulated by national executive director Dave White yesteday: "To correct a serious gap between our expected revenue and costs, the budget calls for a significant reduction in our expenses, including the elimination of certain staff positions. The loss of even one position in our professional family is difficult for all of us, and few words can offer relief. Nonetheless, I have asked all employees nationwide to convene tomorrow morning so that I, and our executive team, can speak directly to you about this situation and its consequences." [Variety]
