This Britain's Got Talent Thing is Getting Out of Hand

Tired of unkempt megastar Susan Boyle swamping your Facebook news feeds and Huffington Post editorials (and a gold star to you, awkwardly-fashioned headline Susan Boyle, Gay Marriage, and Not Trusting Your Gut)? Well, it's time to move on to the new new thing, and wouldn't you know, it's come from the same place as the old thing. Yup, while Susan Boyle embarks on a global media tour in advance of her second round of auditions, Britain's Got Talent has found itself another singing sensation to milk: 12-year-old Shaheen Jafargholi. And this one's a virgin, too! (We hope.)

Like Boyle before him, Shaheen's audition comes ready-made with swooping camera shots and a shamelessly contrived, sympathy-wringing setup (one presumes that the backstory of a domineering father ready to sell the boy to the highest bidder was cut for time). Here's the clip:

The best part? When judge Amanda Holden recalls for Shaheen the rare class of Talent contestants who've given her a commensurate level of goosebumps: "I got it with Paul Potts, I got it with George Sampson, and I got it with you." Um, forgetting anyone? New world overlord Susan Boyle will have this blond harpy Rogained for her insolence.
