January Jones, appearing in American Wedding, Love Actually, and next year's spin on Dirty Dancing, takes a breather on Chanel's rooftop above Rodeo Drive.

In a span of just 12 months, January Jones will have been seen on-screen as "a lesbian porn star, a virgin, a dumb overseas American and a bitch," she laughs. She is referring to her roles, respectively, in Anger Management, August's American Wedding, November's Brit ensemble Love Actually and next year's Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights, in which she plays "Evil Eve," the nemesis thrusting herself between Romola Garai and Diego Luna in revolution-torn 1950s Cuba.
This typecasting-unfriendly behavior is typical for the chameleonic Jones, 25, who admits to getting bored easily. "It's not that fun to play the ingenue," she says. The single South Dakota native, who once lived with current tabloid mainstay Ashton Kutcher before an amicable split, just moved from "the hood of Brentwood" to a home in Santa Monica-- complete with a yard for her supposed "guard dog" (weighing in at 30 lbs.)--and proceeded to hastily paint each room a different color in a whirlwind of rollers and newspaper. "I get a project in my head, then I do it for two days and I'm over it, so hopefully by that time it's finished."
Photographed on these pages at the exclusive Chanel suite, perched atop the Rodeo Drive store in Beverly Hills, Jones admits to a fairly hands-on approach to her own accessorizing. "I like to make jewelry--necklaces and earrings--from beads. I bring boxes on set, but I'm embarrassed to charge for them." She smiles. "Stringing thousands of beads keeps me at peace."
